two high-profile murder cases that have hung over the city of charlottesville for years will likely come to an end today. 33-year-old jesse matthew junior is expected to enter plea agreements in the deaths of two virginia college

matthew is due in court in albermarle county this afternoon. and, 10 on your side plans to be there to watch it all unfold. rico bush joins us this morning with more from his sources on what's expected to happen this afternoon. rico. don, katie, prosecutors say matthew will plead guilty to the murders of 18-year-old hannah graham and 20-year- old morgan harrington to avoid the death penalty. authorities announced the plea agreements monday, but declined to go into details. matthew faced the possibility of the death penalty in the graham case, which was scheduled to go to trial in the summer. graham disappeared from the university of virginia in september 20-14. police found her remains the following month on abandoned property in albemarle county about 12 miles from u-v-a. virrginia tech student morgan harrington vanished after attending a metallica concert in charlottesville in 2- thousand-9. authorities found her remains on a farm months later. her case was scheduled to go to trial in the fall. harrington's mother says even though she hasn't seen the plea deals, she supports

is long overdue and she's ready to end this emotional journey. (gil harrington/ morgan harrington's mother) to anticipate another year of motion hearings and then a long trial was daunting for us. we, you don't get over your daughter being murdered but you can get past it and we want to do that. matthew is already serving life in prison for a sexual assault case in fairfax county. the hearing is scheduled for 1-30 this aftermoon. look for our coverage of these cases starting on wavy news 10 at 4. rico bush, 10 on your side. also happening today, a grand jury in norfolk will determine if there's enough evidence to pursue charges in a cold case murder. police arrested michael brown after a traffic stop last year in north carolina. investigators charged brown with second degree murder in angela lechlitner's death in 2008. officers have not revealed how brown is connected to her

the results from super tuesday are in. donald trump and hillary clinton gained momentum while holding on to their leads. trump and clinton each won seven primaries including virginia. for the republicans, donald trump built a sizeable lead and picked up at least 197 delegates. overall trump now has 279 delegates. senator ted cruz, who won his home state of texas and picked-up oklahoma and alaska. he has 154 delegates. senator marko rubio won

delegates. governor john kasich has 24 and doctor ben carson has 8. a nominee needs more than 1200 delegates to win the republican nomination. clinton solidified her overall delegate lead over senator bernie sanders. including superdelegates, clinton how has at least 969 delegates to sander's 319. sanders won primaries in four states including his home state of vermont. he also won the caucus in colorado yesterday. it takes almost 2400 delegates to be the democratic nominee. hillary clinton supporters and volunteers gathered at a watch party tuesday night. they watched the results come in from guad's on granby street. many saying they're longtime volunteers. some have even been working the phones to get out the vote. they say, they still have plenty of work 29:11 - both the clinton campaign as well as her supporters and democrats. we don't take anything for granted. so we know that if she becomes the nominee...we have a lot of doors to knock on, a lot of phone

those supporters say they will be back to work this week. supporters of senator bernie sanders gathered in his norfolk campaign office to listen to him speak -- after it was projected that he lost the democratic primary in virginia. s/sen. bernie sanders (d) presidential candidate :15 "as i think all of you know, this campaign is not just about electing a president, it is about transforming america." the independent won in his home state of vermont. about 30 to 40 people watched the results come in off little creek road in norfolk. volunteers started the day early with literature drops, canvassing at polls, and knocking on doors. they told us they were in it for the long haul -- despite the loss. about 50 people gathered in virginia beach to cheer on donald trump's win in virginia. nats of cheering the diverse group met at pembroke pizza. everyone we spoke with seemed to have a different reason behind their support for trump. eli valentine/ trump

for the first time in history, the u-s army opened 20-thousand combat positions to women. a high school student in smithfield, north carolina is among the first hired to fill the military specialty. after graduating this year, josselyn casteneda trejo will start her job as a combat engineer. she'll also be involved in the detonation of explosives and destruction of obstacles. :19 - :25 runs 6 (sot: was younger. so, this opportunity came up and i took it." the opportunity only became available days before she walked into the army recruiting office. the army opened up the job as part of a campaign to remove policies banning women from serving in combat units below the birgade level. josselyn heads to basic training this summer. this morning american astronaut scott kelly is back on solid ground. kelly spent the last 340 days in the international

volunteers answered the call for, get this, to snuggle with goats. farmers in virginia said they needed people to help snuggle and bottle feed baby goats, so they could milk the mom's for cheese. more than two-thousand people signed up in albemarle county. it's so popular there's even a wait list to get on the wait list. yesterday the first lady of virginia, dorthy mcauliffe, stopped by to show her support. way to spend the day, a beautiful day, than to be here with these baby goats who are just such an important part of who we are in our
